Butterflies & Bow Ties with a little Rustic Grace | Dallas Wedding Photographer

Butterflies & bowties styled shoot at Rustic Grace Estate in Van Alstyne, Texas by Dallas Wedding Photographer Laura Miller.

This is a styled shoot I did a few weeks ago with an amazing team of wedding vendors. The theme was butterflies and bow ties, and after weeks of pinning colors and idea sharing with each other, this is what we came up with! Dallas wedding planner Kristine Baker with Urban Magnolia Events reached out to me because I have worked with her as a Dallas wedding photographer at several weddings! This shoot was at the amazing red barn at the Rustic Grace Estate, which is run by Katrina Johnson. Let me tell you, Katrina is a DOLL. She was so accommodating to anything we needed, it was clear that she puts her heart into weddings out there and it is not just another rustic wedding venue. This is a place where memories will be made and families will begin their journeys. It’s like going out to a family farm, and when you get there, no matter who you are, you are instantly at home. The longhorns are pretty stinking cool, too! If any of you Rustic Grace Estate brides need a Dallas wedding photographer, give me a call! I’d LOVE to shoot at Rustic Grace again!

Joining us was Emily of Petals Couture, who is a be a bride-to-be, herself! Her gorgeous, bright, luxe florals were absolutely delightful and gave our shoot an amazing punch! Jay at Ducky Bob’s brought the rentals and even had the idea to include bottle openers for the sodas! I didn’t even think of that! All stationary was courtesy of the ever-so-charming Annie at 5 by 7 Designs, and she really brought it with perfect, fresh ideas! I must say, I am a little obsessed with the butterfly stamps that she was able to source to match the theme, and a bow tie for an invite belly band? SUCH a cool idea! Our chic, lavender, geometric table linen, came from La Tavola Fine Linens, and it truly brings things up a notch! The beautiful cake is from the super sweet Sarah of Sweet Art Bakery. I highly recommend stopping by her shop if you’re ever in McKinney! It will be the most delicious stop you’ve had all day, and as a Dallas wedding photographer, I’ve had my share of wedding cake, so I know what I’m talking about. haha

I’d also like to extend a special thanks to Melissa and Nick for being our wonderful bride and groom for the shoot. Melissa also happens to be a Dallas wedding photographer friend of mine! She wore a gorgeous dress from Blushing Bride Boutique in Frisco, and if you’re wondering who brought the glam for her hair and make up, that would be Sydney at Finishing Touch Salon. After working with her on this shoot, I immediately started asking her about her doing my hair!:)You might also notice that Melissa’s lashes have butterflies on them. We got those from Paperself, the same company that did the paper lashes for the HUNGER GAMES!! So basically Melissa was getting her Katniss on while wearing these. SO FLIPPING COOL!

For this, I wanted to show a different approach to a wedding at a rustic venue. Rustic doesn’t have to mean soft colors and burlap, so we put a modern twist on a rustic venue by using bright, citrus colors, modern patterns, and I brought in a little bit of my own lighting to give things a little more of an edge! Part of being a Dallas wedding photographer is knowing how to handle any lighting situation, and I wanted to show that I could do both natural and off camera lighting! After discussing and planning this shoot with our goal of bringing some modern into the rustic, I love how things turned out!

What do you think? Did we meet our goal? What’s your favorite detail from this shoot?

BONUS: If my last post’s news of getting published wasn’t enough, THIS shoot has also been picked up for publication by Love and Lavender! Check out that post here!! HECK YES!

Kaylee & Spencer’s Garland Engagement Photos with a Splash | Dallas Wedding Photographer

Kaylee and Spencer’s Garland, Texas engagement photos by Dallas wedding photographer Laura Miller. Kaylee and Spencer are an adventurous couple who met while working at a restaurant in College Station, Texas. They are all about having fun, and when they’re not enjoying at home movie dates or walking their chocolate lab, Cooper, they can be found traveling, enjoying the outdoors, camping, skiing and snowboarding. They truly know how to live life the absolute fullest, and they do it with STYLE! Spencer said he was ready to propose when, “I realized that being her boyfriend just wasn’t enough anymore. She’s the love of my life and I wanted to start a family with her.” As for the proposal, Spencer kept her guessing when they had several romantic adventures lined up, but finally popped the question as a complete surprise at the end of a fun Karaoke duet, all in front of their family and friends.

Being true to their adventurous nature, when they reached out to me to plan their engagement session, what they requested was music to this Dallas wedding photographer ’s ears! They basically said that anything goes, as long as they get to jump in water at the end. Let me tell you, I was PUMPED! I scouted out a creek in Garland, Texas, and after some gorgeous outdoor portraits, they had a little adventure right in front of my camera in the creek. These are some of my favorite engagement photos to date! Oh and for those of you who came here from Facebook, heres the news! This beautiful outdoor engagement session got picked up by the Luxe Pearl blog today for publication! So apparently I am not the only one who absolutely adores this session! YAY!!!:DKaylee and Spencer, thank you so much for choosing me to be your Dallas wedding photographer. I can’t wait for your wedding next month!

Perfectly Pink Styled Shoot at Three Three Three First Avenue | Dallas Wedding Photographer

Modern and glam pink styled session at 333 1st Avenue in Downtown Dallas by Dallas wedding photographer Laura Miller.

Hi there!

Okay, so I am bursting at the seams and so excited to finally share this with you! Those of you who follow me on facebook and twitter know that I’ve been dying to share the some news! Recently, I was lucky enough to team up with Urban Magnolia Events and some of Dallas’ best wedding vendors to brainstorm and create a beautiful pink styled session at 333 First Avenue for my very first styled shoot. You may have noticed some teasers on my facebook page, but now that I can finally share the news, here it is! The shoot was picked up by the Wedding Chicks for my very first blog publication!! So the shoot is featured on Wedding Chicks today! AHH!!! So. Flipping. Exciting!!! Wedding Chicks is one of the top wedding blogs, so to be chosen and featured on their site is a huge honor and achievement for me; especially for my first styled shoot and publication!

The shoot was selected by Wedding Chicks four LONG months ago, so I’ve had to keep it under wraps until the post was scheduled to be published on there. I STINK at keeping my own secrets, so this has been a test for me, for real. haha

I am so wonderfully lucky to be a Dallas wedding photographer because that means that I get to work with some of the best Dallas wedding vendors that there are. This shoot was a prime example of that. These vendors are so talented, that any time I see their work, I could just squeal. Buuut… that would be annoying. So I just refer them to all of my brides instead, so they can experience the magic for themselves. hehe

I must say that I’ve never been so obsessed with a bouquet in my life. So, I apologize in advance for the bouquet photo overload. Because you know… looking at photos of beautiful flowers is just AWFUL!;) (PS: A bee outside completely agreed with the bouquet obsession and may have chased me a bit outside with the bouquet after the shoot. I may or may not have got in a tiny ninja fight with said bee to get the bouquet into the car with Jamey and Kristine… yeah. I play it cool like that.)

I’d like to thank each of the people who helped dream up and assemble this beautiful shoot and also the beautiful Jamey Plymale for bringing the glam as our bride for the shoot!

Okay, I’ll stop talking now so that you can see the photo goodness!

Lauren & Nathan’s Downtown Celina Engagement Session | Dallas Wedding Photographer

Rustic downtown Celina engagement photos with Lauren and Nathan by Dallas wedding photographer Laura Miller.

Today is my 4th wedding anniversary with my amazing husband, Russell, but we celebrated early because today is also the wedding day of wonderful couple, Lauren and Nathan.

I was introduced to them by another couple of mine, Brittney and Tanner. (You may remember Brittney and Tanner from their engagement photos in Downtown McKinney. Feel free to check those out!) I love working with friends and family of existing clients because I already know that they will be great. Lauren and Nathan are the perfect example of this.

I met Lauren, her daughter Shaelyn, and her mom Melinda earlier this year over coffee at Bonnie Ruth’s in Watters Creek in Allen. These three ladies are a prime example of Southern charm and you can’t help but immediately feel like you’ve known them for ages. They are warm, inviting, funny and as sweet as could be. I was hesitant going into the meeting because I knew the wedding date was on my anniversary and I wouldn’t shoot on that date for just anyone. They had to be awesome. Knowing that they were referred by some of my favorite clients, I figured they were most likely pretty great! Meeting them just proved my theory right, and I am truly blessed to be their Dallas wedding photographer!

I didn’t get to meet Nathan until their downtown Celina engagement session, and honestly with grooms, I usually don’t expect much as far as being “into” pictures, but he did a great job! Most guys are okay and smile for the camera for the first 20 minutes, but then they’re kind of over it. haha With Nathan, his smile got bigger any time he looked at Lauren, and he was such a natural with Shaelyn that I got a little emotional. (I’m such a girl!) I told Lauren and Melinda this over some yummy Mexican food recently, but when I saw the three of them together, I knew that they had something special. These three are meant to be a family and they come together like three peas in a pod. Seeing them together makes me smile, and I know that being their Dallas wedding photographer is going to be such an absolute  joy.

Today I will be taking photos of their Heritage Springs wedding all the way out in Anna, Texas, but as for now, I hope you enjoy some of my favorite photos from their downtown Celina engagement session.

Happy wedding day, Lauren and Nathan! I’ll be there in a few hours!
