Dallas Arts District Engagement Photos with Michelle and Conrad | Dallas Wedding Photographer

Engagement photos in the Dallas Arts District with Michelle and Conrad by Dallas wedding photographer Laura Miller.

Meet Conrad and Michelle! These two are a fun couple from Dallas who have hired me to be their Dallas wedding photographer this October for their Chandelier Room wedding. (Yay!) I just got to tour the Chandelier Room with them, Michelle’s beautiful bridesmaids, as well as her parents, and I am SO excited to be their Dallas wedding photographer. Seriously. The venue is spectacular, modern, and just plain gorgeous! They are a couple of hotties, and their love is so apparent when they are together. I have only known them for a few months, and I am seriously so happy for them to tie the knot.

Michelle works at the Joule hotel, which is an interior design dream and that is where we will be taking her (bound to be amazing) Dallas bridal photos; while Conrad is a very talented structural engineer! They live in Deep Ellum (how cool is that?) and spend a lot of time around Downtown Dallas, so their engagement session in those areas was a no brainer. These two are as Dallas as it gets!

Conrad did a fantastic job planning a secret proposal by telling Michelle he was flying her to San Antonio for a trip on her birthday, but popped the question three days later on their 1 year anniversary!! Swoon! You’ve got to give a guy props that can keep something like that secret! haha

We started off their Dallas engagement photos in some Deep Ellum since it was close to home for them, so that we could get some photos of their fur babies, Dioji and Puppy; (who are bilingual, naturally!) They were so good, and with very minimal treat bribing, too! 😉

After we knocked out some colorful Deep Ellum engagement photos we headed to the Arts District, where we encountered the Delorean from Back to the Future, I got attacked by ants, enjoyed the sights of the Dallas skyline, and oh yeah, made some more sweet Dallas engagement photos! Over all, it was a great session, and I hope you will agree when you see the results. It was totally worth the ant bites. 😉

BONUS ROUND! We got together for a few more engagement photos in Dallas at the place where they met, J Black’s Lounge on Henderson. So we knocked out some photos there, so they could have those as well! These two are so natural in front of the camera!  I love that we were able to do some photos where their story started! Personalizing sessions like that makes them 100 times better!

Hickory Street Annex Wedding with Nicolle & Ray Part 1 | Dallas Wedding Photographer

Hickory Street Annex wedding ceremony with Nicolle & Ray shot by Dallas wedding photographer Laura Miller.

Nicolle and Ray were married on a perfect Sunny day at the Hickory Street Annex just outside of downtown Dallas. The Hickory Street Annex is a re-claimed old brick and exposed beam warehouse for a mega-cool modern and urban feel. It’s got lots of windows, a wall of candles, a ceiling with clusters of white lanterns and an awning trimmed in lights for an extra bit of twinkle over their patio that is covered with blooming plants. That patio leads out to a parking lot that is flanked by a neat cement and wine bottle wall and the side of an aged vintage car complete with an opening door. As a Dallas wedding photographer, I seriously love this place and could shoot here a million times and still be thrilled to bits!

I had fun doing Nicolle’s bridals and boudoir sessions, and we talked about her wedding, but I had no idea that she had so much in store for her pink, sparkling, spectacular event. When I walked in, they weren’t even 1/2 done setting up yet and my jaw hit the floor. It was gorgeous! But before I could get lost in the details, I was able to document Nicolle getting her glam on with her bridesmaids while my second shooter got the guys getting ready before we got their group photos. Almost as soon as we got their portraits done and got Nicolle hidden away, we grabbed the detail photos (I’m going to make you wait for all of that goodness until second part of their wedding posts… MUAHAHA!) and then it was go time for their ceremony. Their ceremony was short and sweet, but featured a hand binding ceremony that I thought was extra cool, complete with a special ribbon that Nicolle had adorned with charms that had special meaning to them and their relationship. I love those personal touches! Before you know it, Nicolle and Ray were hitched and it was time to PARTY! More on that later, but for now, here is the first installment of their photos!

Hickory Street Annex Wedding with Nicolle & Ray Part 2 | Dallas Wedding Photographer

Hickory Street Annex wedding reception with Nicolle and Ray shot by Dallas wedding photographer Laura Miller.

Nicolle and Ray were officially MARRIED and it was time to get to their rocking reception. As mentioned in part 1 of their wedding posts here, it was a stunner with the lanterns hanging from the ceiling, candles everywhere that had been dipped in pink glitter, crystals on the tables, centerpieces with perfect spheres of pink flowers atop silver candelabras, ombre roses going across the head table, a gorgeous fondant covered cake with pink flowers spilling all over it, a candy/popcorn wedding favor bar with amazing paper details, needless to say the decor and attention to detail was impressive and this Dallas wedding photographer was in heaven! I love love love shooting details.

After my head stopped spinning from seeing all of the gorgeousness that was their wedding reception, it was time for their entrance, the toasts and some partying, and they clearly knew how to party! The Annex was hopping! They even had a couple of sofas with pink pillows to match their theme by the dance floor for people to rest their feet if they got tired from dancing. One of my favorite parts of their reception was when Ray sang hip hop song “This Is How We Do It,” except for when it says, “South Central does it like nobody does.” He changed it to “Nicolle does it like nobody does.” The crowd loved it and so did I! I’ve seen guys sing lovey songs before at weddings, but Ray was straight up getting down! haha

The party kept hopping until the time for their exit came all too soon, and they were whisked away by a vintage car into newlywed bliss. I know I say this about all of my weddings, but this wedding was one of my favorites to shoot for sure!

Downtown McKinney Engagement Photos with Brittney and Tanner | Dallas Wedding Photographer

Downtown McKinney engagement photos with Brittney and Tanner by Dallas wedding photographer Laura Miller.

Meet Brittney and Tanner.

These two met here in Texas when they were younger, but both went to Kansas for college. Now they’re back in Texas, and Brittney just graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice; while Tanner is doing great working at a fancy lawn care company. Brittney, who is drop dead gorgeous, had me cracking up with her funny faces and Tanner didn’t miss an opportunity to show off his lawncare expertise. 😛 Which reminds me that I will most likely kill my yard once I live somewhere that doesn’t include lawncare for me. I guess I’ll have to give his company a call to save my poor yard from my black thumb and evil weed invaders. Brittney loves volleyball, but Tanner loves golf, and that is part of the reason that they chose to get married at the beautiful Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas! They don’t take anything too seriously and are super fun to be around. I could try not to laugh when they’re around, but I wouldn’t be very successful, because they’re hilarious.

I met these two through fabulous Dallas wedding planner, Kristine Baker at Urban Magnolia Events. We arranged a meeting where I was able to get to know Brittney and Tanner a bit and I also got to meet Brittney’s sweet parents, Deb and Steven. We all hit it off and they asked me to be their Dallas wedding photographer! Since then, Brittney and Tanner had a friend who was also looking for a Dallas wedding photographer and now I’ll be lucky enough to capture her wedding, as well! Sweet!

I already know their wedding is going to be a Dallas wedding photographer’s dream. Between Kristine’s planning and eye for the most beautiful details, flowers from the uber talented Kristin at Haute Floral in Dallas, and Brittney’s black, pink and red theme. It will be a stunner, for sure!

The three of us got together for some historical downtown McKinney engagement photos and after a short break for some sweet tea and soda at a little cafe, we popped over to get a few Adriatica engagement photos, as well.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Venetian Terrace Wedding with Veronica and Javier Part 1 | Dallas Wedding Photographer

Veronica and Javier’s Las Colinas Canals wedding, shot by Dallas wedding photographer Laura Miller.

Veronica and Javier were married in the Las Colinas Canals at the Venetian Terrace. The Canals are a great location for photos and a gorgeous setting for a wedding ceremony. As a Dallas wedding photographer, I get to see lots of unique locales for weddings, and Las Colinas’ Mandalay Canals are one of the most unique spots in the area; featuring Italian inspired architecture, stone bridges, hallways adorned with beautiful arches, hand laid stone sidewalks, and vines wrapped whimsically around buildings that change color with the seasons. With the tone set for the day by the location, the anticipation of the commitment these two were about to make was in the air, and so despite the fact that it was a windy and chilly day, hearts were warm. I got there around the same time as Veronica and her bridesmaids, and beautiful was an understatement. They looked amazing! We quickly zipped outside to get Veronica hidden because the Venetian Terrace doesn’t really have a spot to hide a bride, and had a pretty close call, but thankfully Javier didn’t see anything and no surprises were spoiled! Their bridesmaids wore beautiful navy dresses, and Veronica wore a sleek and modern dress with pleats and a unique collar that showed off her beautiful bone structure and drew attention right to up to her face where you would notice her gorgeous eyes! Javier, looked hansome all dressed up as well, and his groomsmen looked great, also!

Something that stood out to me at their ceremony was the unity candle ceremony. As a Dallas wedding photographer, I see a lot of weddings that have unity ceremonies of one type or another. They are all sweet; I love the symbolism that they hold, and how creative that some of them get, but this one was simple, and the thing that made it great wasn’t the way it was decorated or presented. It was the way that it happened. The ceremony was going well, and it was time for the unity candle when the moms went to light the taper candles for Veronica and Javier to use to light their pillar candle representing two families coming together to make one. But as I mentioned before, it was very windy that day and the candles kept blowing out. So to get main candle lit, Veronica, Javier, their moms, and the best man all crowded around, no longer symbolically coming together, but physically coming together to shield the wind from blowing out their flames so that they could light their unity candle. Though simple, this really got to me, because seeing a physical representation of friends, family and husband and wife coming together for their marriage was purely beautiful. I will never forget that, and because of that, their unity candle photos are some of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken.

The rest of their ceremony went off without a hitch (except for Veronica and Javier getting hitched!) and then we went off for a few group photos before the reception. Check out part 2 of their wedding by clicking here!
