Downtown Grapevine Family Portraits with the E Family | Dallas Family Photographer

Downtown Grapevine family photo session with the E family shot by Dallas family photographer / Dallas wedding photographer Laura Miller.

Meet the E family! They were celebrating a few different things including a birthday and wanted to capture the time with a family photo session. (Not that you need a reason at all!) Regardless of the reason, I am glad they called me! Meeting this fun family of 5 was quite a treat and I felt so lucky to be chosen to be their Dallas family photographer!

Before I was off to meet Kimmi and Greg, with their three kiddos, Coralyn, Emmalyn, and Haydon; Kimmi emailed me for wardrobe suggestions. I was happy to help out, because making sure that my clients feel great about themselves and helping them make the best choices for their photos is something very important to me! Kimmi wasn’t sure what she wanted, but she mentioned that she was thinking jeans and boots, so I hopped on Polyvore and made her an inspiration board! We decided on Downtown grapevine for their family photo session, which is one of my favorite photo spots, so I knew that there were a lot of warm reds and neutrals in the area. Blues and purples compliment those colors perfectly and seem to pop off of a lot of the backdrops there, so I decided to make a blue inspiration board.

A lot of times where people go wrong with picking out what to wear for their portrait sessions is going too matchy-matchy, and that can quickly give photos a dated look and in some cases they can be super cheesy. The way to avoid this is to mix things up! You can use different shades of the same color, different patterns, different textures, etc. It can also be fun to add an accent color! In a world where you have endless options at your fingertips for any budget, putting together your photo wardrobe is a snap. <– Hehe, see what I did there? 😛

So, I sent this style board to Kimmi for an example and she pulled it off to a “tee!” <– Oops, I did it again. Get it? ……Wardrobe?  ……Tee?
Where are you going??!
Okay, okay! If I promise to stop with the cheesy puns, will you keep reading?
Anywho, so here is the styleboard followed by the E family’s awesome downtown Grapevine family photos. I hope they are worth you sticking around through my ridiculous puns! 🙂
